About the event

Through this class, participants will hand-pick all their plant material straight from the flower farm and then learn how to create Maze-zashiMaze-zashi is an arrangement created with five or more kinds of materials, specifically flowers.  Color is the main visual element and will be used to help show fullness in the arrangement.  The objectives are the distribution of color among a variety of materials, to create harmony, and to have no single material standing out.  All the materials should be equally distributed throughout the arrangement. Consideration of the container is helpful in achieving a well-matched finished product.  A neutral container such as a white and/or beige or a container matching the colors of the flowers are suitable choices.  A low, flat shallow container (suiban) with a kenzan or an upright container (nageire) can be used.  The overall fusion of colors is the focus of the arrangement.

This class will take place at Gather Mountain Blooms.  The farm is run by three sisters who started an urban cut-flower farm in Colorado Springs located at the historic Venetucci Farm. Grown from a personal story of hardship, they believe in the power of locally grown flowers to foster healing, connection, and joy across the community.
